The first scale (mas sacch) is used for determination of sucrose concentration of sugar-containing solutions. The Oechsle scale reflects the must weight, that is the density of grape must. It is an indicator for the expected alcohol concentration in wine after the complete fermentation of sugar. Therefore, the refractometer is mainly used in viniculture for harvest time determination as well as in wine making.

By default, the refractometer is packed in a grey hardcase. By request, this can be changed into a portable suitcase.
