With our REF703 and REF713 wine refractometers, you can determine the degree of ripeness of fruit, e.g. grapes, using a small sample. However, the most common application is measuring the sugar content in fruit to determine the expected alcohol content after complete fermentation.
The first scale (mas Sacch) is used to determine the sucrose concentration of sugar solutions. The Oechsle scale indicates the must weight, i.e. the density of the grape must. It is an indicator of the expected alcohol content of the wine when the sugar has fully fermented. The refractometer is therefore used particularly in viticulture to determine the time of harvest and in wineries.
The sharp dividing line (blue-white) enables good readability, the adjustable eyepiece for focusing adapts to any visual acuity by simply turning it.
Zero calibration with the supplied distilled water is carried out at 20 °C for refractometers without automatic temperature compensation (ATC) and between 10 °C and 30 °C for models with ATC.
